Cavin dominates at Sands Speedway

SANDS – Collin Cavin of Marquette dominated the Purestock division at the Sands Speedway on Saturday, sweeping the heat and feature races and having the distinction of posting the fastest time.

This Saturday, the track will host Kids Day that includes Hot Wheels races in three age groups with trophies to be awarded to winners. Four bikes will also be given away to boys and girls, while ice cream will be supplied.

Here are results, with the top three in order of each race and racers listed with their hometowns:

Purestock – Heat: Cavin; Joe Holm, Gwinn; Wyatt Goodwin, Marquette. Feature: Cavin; Goodwin; Eric Royer, Perkins. Fastest time: Cavin, 18.35.

Four-Cylinder Modifieds – Heat: John “Doc” Holliday, Ishpeming; Aaron Sprowl, Skandia; Todd Maki, Sands. Feature: T. Maki; Ross Olsen Jr., Sands; Sprowl. Fastest time: Olsen, 17.291.

Super Stock – Heat 1: Jim Yelle, Gwinn; Bryce Cuggino, Norway; Derek Gagne, Wilson. Heat 2: Stan Wittler, Marquette; Darryl Wirkula, Sands; Ray Keskimaki, Marquette. Feature: Wirkula; Keskimaki; Todd Yelle, Gwinn. Fastest time: Wirkula, 16.364.
