ISHPEMING,Mich. – Linda Kulju, age 86, formerly of 111 Bluff St., Ishpeming, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the Mather Nursing Center where she been a resident since July 2010.
Linda was born January 6, 1927, in Republic to Matt and Lydia (Ahtonen) Berg. She worked at the Serepta Rest Home in Republic, as a seamstress at the H.W. Gossard Company in Ishpeming and as a housekeeper and cook in Lake Forest, Ill.,L and Lake Bluff, Ill.
Linda was a skilled seamstress, very talented knitter, who also enjoyed making rugs (carpet weaving) and upholstering furniture. She had a passion for picking strawberries and blueberries. Linda loved to cook Sunday dinners for her family and when someone stopped to visit she always had a fresh pot of coffee and homemade bakery.
Linda is survived by a daughter Carol (Robert) Truckey of Ishpeming; 3 grandchildren: Wendy (Bill) Gravedoni, Patty (Kevin) Mattord and Laura (Michael) Elliott; a daughter-in-law Jean (Wayne) Carlson; great-grandchildren: Katie and Tony Gravedoni, Becky Mattord, Seth, Jonah, Benjamin, Joshua, Lily and Russell Elliott, Caleb, Daniel, Luke, Aaron and Jennie Carlson; along with an aunt, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; a son, Richard; 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
An Inurnment for family and friends will be held at the Humboldt Township Cemetery.
