2 Ishpeming men bound over in torture case

MARQUETTE – Two Ishpeming men charged in connection with the alleged torture of two Ishpeming women were bound over to Marquette County Circuit Court today.

Jason David Sadowski, 43, and Charles Leroy Cope, 65, who police say were living in the Ishpeming business – The Martial Way – where the alleged actions took place were bound over on all charges after a preliminary examination that included testimony from an Ishpeming Police Department patrolman and the two alleged victims in the case.

Sadowski has been charged with one count of solicitation of murder, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; two counts of torture, felonies punishable by up to life in prison; one count of first degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; two counts of unlawful imprisonment, 15-year felonies; and two counts of assault by strangulation, 10-year felonies.

Cope is charged with two counts of torture and two counts of unlawful imprisonment.

Bond remained the same for both men, with Sadowski denied bond and Cope’s bond set at $500,000 cash or surety per count.

Both men remained lodged in Marquette County Jail.
