Council to discuss roundabout
ISHPEMING – The Ishpeming City Council will discuss the construction of a Michigan Department of Transportation highway roundabout at its meeting tonight.
The Ishpeming Planning Commission approved a resolution of support at its June 27 special meeting for MDOT’s plan to construct a roundabout in 2016 as a safety project to reduce accidents, injuries and fatalities at the U.S. 41 intersections with Second and Third streets. The city council is being asked to approve a similar resolution of support.
The council will also discuss the energy and operating cost savings program being carried out by Honeywell International. Honeywell has been contracted by the city to make upgrades to many city buildings that are intended to save the city money over time.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Ishpeming Senior Citizens Center.
