City commission to review tentative pacts
MARQUETTE – The Marquette City Commission will review tentative agreements with three of the city’s bargaining units during a regular meeting tonight.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the commission chambers at city hall.
Tentative agreements have been reached between the city and its police, firefighters’ and supervisory employees’ unions.
New four-year agreements were ratified by the supervisory employees union – AFSCME Local #1852 – and the police union, and will run through Sep. 30, 2017. A new three-year contract, running through Sep. 30, 2016, was ratified recently by the firefighters’ union.
If approved tonight, the contracts will be effective as of last Monday, July 1.
In other business, the commission will consider a lease agreement for the Upper Peninsula Rowing Club, as well as an agreement to reproduce artwork for the Presque Isle sign.
Additionally, the commission will review a recommendation to conduct a recreation authority feasibility plan.
