Floyd E. Langford

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Floyd E. Langford, 84, of Marquette, died Tuesday morning, July 2, 2013 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans where he had resided for three weeks.

Floyd was born on March 6, 1929 in Cleveland, Oklahoma, a son of the late Edgar and Ozella (Johnston) Langford. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950-53 during the Korean Conflict being stationed in Okinawa and two years in France. Floyd also served in the Reserves where he later interviewed candidates for West Point Academy.

Floyd was employed for over 35 years with State Farm Insurance as a claims superintendent. After retirement, he and his wife, Katie, enjoyed traveling all over the world. He also enjoyed going to hunting camp, caring for his flowers, also feeding and watching birds, ducks and deer in his back yard. He was also an avid hockey fan of the Detroit Red Wings, NMU Hockey and Marquette Junior Hockey.

Floyd was a member of American Legion Post #44 in Marquette.

He is survived by two children, Larry (Debbie) Langford and Kimberly Moran, both of Marquette; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Langford of Stone Harbor, NJ; four grandchildren, Jennifer Langford, Eddie Langford, Jeremy Moran and Michael Moran; two nieces, Sheri (Sandy Naatz) Langford and Cindy (Stephanie DeArcos) Langford.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was his wife, Giesela “Katie” Langford on March 28, 2012; a son, Edward Langford on March 11, 2008; an infant brother, Francis Langford; three other brothers, J.E. Langford, Glenn Langford and Emmit Langford; also a sister, Edith McCoy.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 9 at 2 p.m. in the Park Cemetery with the Rev. Leon Jarvis presiding.
