Motorcycle driver hurt in US 41 collision with car
MARQUETTE – The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a motorcycle/car accident that sent one person to the hospital Friday afternoon.
According to police, the accident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 41 near Northwoods Road in Marquette Township.
Police said a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville operated by Roseanne Anderson, 74, of Ishpeming attempted to turn west onto U.S. 41 from Northwoods Road, crossing both eastbound lanes and striking a westbound 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Glenn Pizziola, 54, of Ishpeming, who was in the passing lane.
After the collision, police said Pizziola, who was not wearing a helmet, was forced off the road, coming to rest in the ditch.
Police said Pizziola was transported from the scene by Medi-Ride Ambulance to Marquette General Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
No condition report on Pizziola was available as of press time.
Anderson and her passenger, husband Paul Anderson, 76, were not injured in the crash.
Anderson was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.
Police said westbound traffic on U.S. 41 was condensed to one lane for approximately 45 minutes as a result of the crash.
Other assisting agencies on the scene were Marquette Township Fire/Rescue, Marquette City Police Department and Michigan State Police Negaunee Post.
