Ellen ‘Louise’ Sherbinow

SKANDIA, Mich. – Ellen “Louise” Sherbinow, age 72, of Skandia, entered eternal life Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Norlite Nursing Center in the loving and comforting care of her family.

Born September 15, 1940, in Diffin in Alger County, a daughter of Earl and Celia (Lusardi) Englund, Louise was a graduate of the Rock High School Class of 1958. On June 14, 1958, she married Thomas Sherbinow and together the couple established a home and raised their three children in Skandia. For over 20 years, Louise was employed with K-Mart Corporation, retiring in December of 1996. In her leisure, Louise greatly enjoyed her grandchildren, who were the highlight of her life, never missing any of their events or special occasions. She also enjoyed having lunch with her friends. Louise was a member of the Skandia United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years,Thomas; her three sons, Guy (Charlene) Sherbinow, Michael Sherbinow and Jeff (Cathie) Sherbinow all of Marquette; five grandchildren, Alphia Clear, Jennifer (Jake) Mumm, Kylie Sherbinow, Alex Sherbinow and Zachary Sherbinow; one great-grandson, Hunter Mumm; her sister, Dorothy (Donald) Syrjanen; three brothers, Ronald (Mary Jane) Englund, Donald (Patsy) Englund and Duane (Diane) Englund; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Stanley Englund; and her sister, Carrie Lampinen.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Skandia United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 22 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Kim Spencer, pastor, will officiate and burial will follow in the Hillview Cemetery in McFarland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Skandia United Methodist Church.
