Mary Kay Grady sparks Hickey’s in Iron Range Women’s Softball Class A

In Class A play as of June 12, Hickey’s dumped Fox Negaunee, 17-7. Mary Kaye Grady went 4-for-4, and Rachel Gray and Jen Laurila hit homers, for the winning team.

Katie Rankinen collected four hits – including a homer – for Fox Negaunee.

Nikki Christenson and Mary Scherer-Niemi rapped out five hits apiece to lead Buck’s Party Store to a 36-14 win over PC Medic. Kathy Hill also had five hits for the victors, including a grand slam.

Elyssa Gregrausch posted four hits (two doubles and a triple), while Katie Erspamer (two doubles) and Megan Reilly (double) added three hits each for PC Medic.

IRACORE downed Sisters, 17-10, behind four hits (double) by Britney Racine, and three apiece by Jayda Johnson (triple) and Jo Beth Williams.

For Sisters, Anna Dompierre and Jesse Rosten recorded three hits – each with a double – and knocked in two runs apiece.

Jubilee Foods rocked Cliffs Natural Resources, 30-5, by posting 48 total hits. Randi Boule’ and Nichi Schultz each hit a homer for Cliffs.

Vanessa Taavola (two doubles) and Sara Delongchamp (triple) both went 4-for-4 to spark Jasper Ridge Brewery I to a 24-9, five-inning triumph, over Venice.

Kerry White collected three hits (homer) and Beth Christianson two (homer) for Venice.

In Class B action, Dave’s Collision topped VFW, 16-8, behind three hits apiece by Kate Getschow (homer, triple), Shelly Roose and Amy Niemi.

Julia Collick collected three hits, and Jess Ayotte two and three RBIs, for VFW.

Taryn Moyle and Rachel Argall both went 4-for-4 to power Tino’s II to a 16-15 win over Hair Hiatus. Lacey Pietro added two homers for the victors.

For Hair Hiatus, Bethany Firby (homer, triple) and Cristine Larson (two doubles, triple) slapped out three hits each. Thalicia Gray (homer) and Tayler Gray (triple) added two safeties each.

Jack’s TeePee trimmed Pasquali’s, 9-3, behind a homer by Jordan Grigg and a triple by Tina Maki. Nicki Frisk slammed a triple for Pasquali’s.

Brianna Bancroft (two doubles) and Loretta Dugan (double) both posted three hits to spur Jasper Ridge Brewery II to a 15-8 triumph over Crossfit 906.

Lizzy VanBuren went 4-for-4 for the losers.

Signs Unlimited stopped UP Off Road & Performance, 11-5, as Kate Williams posted a homer among her two hits.

Arica Altabello went 3-for-4 for the vanquished.

Gina Debelak (four) and Connie Kontio (three) combined for seven hits as Rookie’s Too/Quality Car Care knocked off Paradise Bar, 10-4.

Jesse Nora had two hits and Sarah Kroon chipped in a double for Paradise.

Class C competition saw Tru North Credit Union shade Willey’s Tire Shop, 16-13. No other details were available.

Barb Palomaki and Rose Korpi both went 4-for-4 as Palomaki Family Chiropractic edged Wooden Nickel, 14-13. Kathy Gischia added a homer for the victors.

For Wooden Nickel, Chris Plourde recorded four hits and Whitney Brugman contributed a round tripper.

Eastwood bumped Country Lanes, 17-14, behind three doubles by Taryn Gleason and a triple by Ellen Sundberg.

Ashton Kirchoff came within a single of a cycle as she belted a home run, a triple and a double for Country Lanes. Becky Lawson added a homer.

Sarah Massie and Rachel Nicholas both went 2-for-3 with a homer to spark Martin Sports Apparel to a 10-5 win over UP Fabricating.

Val Prusi (home run) and Tammy Johnson collected three hits each for UP Fabricating.

The Negaunee Eagles clubbed Rookie’s I, 23-6, as Amy Bazinette went 4-for-4. Christine Gutierrez had two hits for Rookie’s I.
