Legion baseball: Larson, Hanson spur Marquette Blues
MARQUETTE – McKinley Larson threw a no-hitter, and he and Ryan Hanson combined for five RBIs, to lead the Marquette American Legion Blues baseball team to a 5-2 win over host Channing Tuesday.
Larson allowed five walks and struck out 10 over seven innings for the complete-game victory.
Channing scored its runs on a couple of walks and an error in the fifth inning.
At the plate, Hanson belted a two-run homer in the first inning, then Larson smacked a two-run round tripper in the third to give the Blues a 4-0 lead.
Larson plated a run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly.
Hanson (three) and Larson (two) combined for five of the Blues’ seven hits in the game.
“McKinley was real hot early on and his breaking ball was very hard to hit,” Blues manager Derek Swajanen said.
