Evelyn T. (LaChapelle) Kuisti Maki

MARQUETTE, MI. – Evelyn T. (LaChapelle) Kuisti Maki, age 97, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday evening, June 9, 2013, at her home, in the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Hospice.

Born September 14, 1915 in Chocolay Township, a daughter of Jeffery and Alvina (Brunelle) LaChapelle, Evelyn was raised in the Marquette area and attended the local schools. In 1944, following her marriage to George Kuisti, the couple moved to Seattle, Washington where they resided 10 years and Evelyn was employed as a bookkeeper. They then moved to Spokane and resided there 17 years. George preceded her in death in 1974 and in 1975 Evelyn moved back to Marquette.

Evelyn was a member of St. Peter Cathedral, American Legion Auxiliary, Negaunee Eagles, Negaunee VFW Auxiliary, and Women of the Moose.

Evelyn is survived by her sister, Lucille Smedman of Marquette and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husbands, George Kuisti and George Maki, Evelyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Gladys Burbey, Shirley Holman, Marie Louise and Arlene Ruth LaChapelle, Jeffery, Adrian, George, Lowell, Robert, LeRoy, Raymond, and Napoleon LaChapelle.

Friends may call at the Bishop’s Room located at St. Peter Cathedral on Tuesday, June 11, from 12 noon until 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Tuesday afternoon in the Cathedral.

Burial will be made in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lake Superior Hospice Association, 914 W. Baraga Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855.
