Tino’s 2 pulls out one-run Iron Range victory

NEGAUNEE – Taryn Moyle homered during a 3-for-4 night to help Tino’s 2 edge U.P. Off Road & Performance, 24-23, in Class B of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on May 29.

Tino’s 2 teammate Chelsea Belanger added a triple, double and single to the winning effort.

In other B games, Crossfit 906 upended Dave’s Collision, 22-9, as the winners’ Tammy Benda and Katie Richer each went 5 for 7, Lizzy VanBuren was 4 for 6 with a home run and Debra Leaf was 2 for 3. Dave’s Shelley Roose and Jen Heitikko both were 3 for 4 while teammate Jaiee Gobert was 2 for 4 with a homer.

Jack’s Teepee held off VFW, 6-5 in eight innings, as Jack’s Jordann Grigg hit two triples including the game-winner.

Signs Unlimited doubled up Rookie’s Too/Quality Car Care, 8-4, as Signs’ Jessica Koski homered and Nicole Chapman tripled. R2/QCC’s Connie Kontio and Giina Debelak each went 3 for 3.

Hair Hiatus put Pasquali’s offense on hold in an 8-1 victory as the winners’ Tayler Gray, Cortney Caliguri and Shana Caliguri all went 2 for 3. In addition, Gray hit a doubled and Thalicia Gray and Shana Caliguri tripled. For Pasquali’s, Fran Kelly was 2 for 3 and scored her team’s run.

Diana Sundberg and Jamie Pennel both homered to power Jasper Ridge Brewery 2 past Paradise Bar, 15-7. Paradise’s Sara Martin hit two doubles as she, April Ulrickson and Kathy Maynard each went 3 for 4.

In Class A, Taylor Watters, LeAnn Saarela and Kayla Holmes collected five hits apiece in Jasper Ridge Brewery 1’s 23-18, eight-inning win over Hickey’s. Watters homered and Saarela tripled, too, while Hickey’s Jen Laurila also hit a roundtripper.

Sisters edged Venice, 8-6, as Ashley Nylander was 3 for 3, Jaylyn Martin homered and Leah Dompierre tripled and knocked in two runs for the winners. Venice’s Nikki Whitford was 4 for 4 with 4 RBIs, while teammate Abbie Salsbury went 2 for 3 and scored twice.

Buck’s Party Store flew by IRACORE, 16-7, as Buck’s Dindy Cousineau was 4 for 4, Libby Nelson 4 for 5 and Abby Watters homered. IRACORE’s Courtney Waara was 3 for 4 with a homer and triple while Meagan Petros went 2 for 3 with a home run.

Jubilee Foods clamped down on Fox Negaunee, 11-4, as Amanda Harlock collected three hits for the winners and Heidi Verville tripled for Fox.

And in a game suspended in the third inning due to an injured pitcher, PC Medic blitzed Cliffs Natural Resources, 31-0.

In Class C, Willey’s Tire Shop posted its first-ever win with a 7-3 victory over Palomaki Family Chiropractic. Brooke Bleckner not only was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate, but struck out nine on the pitching rubber for the win. Teammate Jaime Bryan had a double and single, while Palomaki’s Katie Trudgeon collected two hits and Mallory Pruett tripled.

Joy Prisk homered twice in a 3-for-3 night to lead the Negaunee Eagles past U.P. Fabricating, 19-6. Addi Hollinshead also homered and was 2 for 3, while Janice Fleming went 3 for 4 for the Eagles. UPF’s Val Prusi homered.

Country Lanes also went to the long ball in beating Tru North Credit Union, 25-3. Cassidee Kudis hit a grand slam homer, Ashton Kirchoff had two roundtrippers and both went 4 for 5 for the winners, who also got a homer among Kris LaForge’s five hits and a triple from Linda Carello. Katie Meyer struck out four pitching for Tru North.

Rookies’ 1 outdefended Eastwood, 9-5, as the winners’ Colie Ball tripled and Eastwood’s Cheryl Churack homered.

Martin Sports Apparel dropped The Wooden Nickel, 25-8, as MSA’s Kara Harrington and Megan Mattson both homered in 3-for-4 nights. Teammate Rachel Nicholas tripled and Sarah Massie doubled, while the Nickel’s Melissa Peters was 2 for 2.
