Carol E. (Hogan) Huempfner
MARQUETTE, MI. – Carol E. (Hogan) Huempfner, age 84, of 694 Erickson Street, went to the Lord on May 31, 2013 at her home in the loving care of her family and caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice.
Carol was Born January 12, 1929 in Marquette to Emma (Hendrickson) Hogan and John Hogan. Following Graduation from Graveraet High School, Carol worked for the LS&I Railroad, then later for the Northern Michigan University Skill Center for 18 years until her retirement. Carol served on the Marquette Township Board holding several positions during her service to the township.
Carol in her spare time enjoyed volunteering at Marquette General Hospital and the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 44 where she served as secretary. She enjoyed and also taught oil painting, wood carving, quilting, stained glass, china painting and porcelain dolls. Carol was a faith filled women and was a well known and active member of St. Christopher Catholic Church.
She is survived by Two daughters, Sandy (Mike) Murray and Cheryl Jones, both of Marquette; Three grandchildren, Lori (Robert) Kivi, Mike (Charlene) Murray Jr. and Tommy Hooper; Seven Great Grandchildren, Kayla and Marissa Murray, Kelsey Kivi, Draven, Xander, Kade and Peyton Hooper; Two sisters, Dorthy Weigel and Adaleen Hogan; two Brothers, Dick (Judy) Hogan and Terry Hogan; her aunt, Shirley Hendrickson; a sister-in-law, Diane Huempfner and a brother- in-law, Billy King.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Huempfner, of 49 years; her son, Arthur Huempfner; her parents, a brother, JR Hogan, a sister, Mary Lou King, and a grandson, Davey Richard.
Friends may call at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday in the church at 12:00 pm with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
