Yellow Highlighters, Blue Miners score 4-3 wins in SSA U10 girls play

MARQUETTE – The Yellow Highlighters edged the Pink Fruit Punch 4-3 in Week 2 U10 girls action of the Superiorland Soccer Association.

Alena Johnson had two goals for the Highlighters while Mckayla Quigley and Taylor Ragusett had one goal each.

Scoring for Fruit Punch was Savanna Novara, Abigail Goodwin and Marlee Parkkonen.

The Blue Miners beat the Orange Crusher 4-3.

Jillian Skewis scored twice for the Miners. Shelby Prusi also had a goal.

For the Crush, Kemi Diem, Lea Thomson and Averie Kelly had a goal.

U14 coed

In SSA U14 play Wednesday, Royal Blue defeated Orange 6-5 with Blue scoring in the final minute.

Blue received goals two goals each from Sterling Wright, Olivia Arntsen and Deni Peterson with Wright scoring the game-winner. Wright and Peterson also had assists.

In goal for Blue, Loegun Berthiaume made four first-half saves and Emily Markle made eight second-half saves.

For the Orange, which battled back from 2-0 and 5-3 deficits to tie the game, Breanna Johnson had three goals and Cullen Bothwell had two goals.

Green lost to Red 3-1.

Green got a goal from Bailey Loukinen. For Team Red, Gina Fielding scored two goals and Kathleen Grizzel scored one goal.

The Blue Djiboutis lost to the Grass Stains 3-0.

Goal scorers for the Grass Stains were Desirae Fernandes, Wyatt Tull and Trent Sweeney.
