Poppy sale a hit

To the Journal editor:

On May 9, 10 and 11 The Superior Memorial Post 6 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars held its annual poppy drive to raise funds for Veterans. Some of the programs we support are the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, National Home for Widows and Orphans, the Marine Corps League “Toys for Tots” program, Eagle Scout Recognition, NMU R.O.T.C. Cadet Award, individual assistance to veterans for eyeglasses, dentures and hearing aids, outreach programs and others too numerous to mention.

We wish to thank the following local businesses for permitting us to solicit on their premises: Econo Foods, Walmart, Shopko, Super One Foods, Jack’s IGA, The Westwood Mall and the Dead River Coffee Shop. Thanks especially to all the generous area residents who helped us raise thousands of dollars for our veterans.

The V.F.W. is all about “Veterans helping Veterans,” but we couldn’t do it without you. God bless you and God bless the United States of America.
