MARESA super may be picked
MARQUETTE – The Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Services Agency has scheduled a special meeting today to discuss choosing its next superintendent.
The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the MARESA building at 321 E. Ohio St. in Marquette.
The field was narrowed down to two candidates last week to replace Superintendent Steve Peffers, who is retiring June 30.
The two finalists are Marquette Area Public Schools Superintendent Deb Veiht and downstate Alcona Community Schools Superintendent Shawn Thornton.
Also interviewed for the job was Robert Nardi, who is an associate superintendent at MARESA.
Board members conducted site visits at the finalists’ districts Monday, talking with board members, teachers, staff and others who work regularly with the superintendents.
