Rights under fire

To the Journal editor:

What is wrong with this nation? What is wrong with the people of this nation?

Our government has, for the last several decades, thrown our constitution right out the window. We have no more privacy, “Big Brother” is always watching us, our phones can be tapped for the flimsiest of reasons.

Our rights have been taken away from us people. It’s time to let our leaders know that they work for us, not the other way around.

Maybe it’s time they started taking the hit in the wallet instead of us. Every time we turn around we are being taxed for something.

That is taxation without representation. That is one of the reasons we kicked the British out in the first place. Now we are letting it happen all over again.

Reread the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Maybe it will refresh your memories. Something to think about.
