Christine Maria Larson

ISHPEMING/SUOMI LOCATION – Christine Maria Larson, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

She was born in Montefelcone, Italy on September 17, 1920, to the late Nunzio and Josephine (Guissepo) Manzoline. She came to the United States with her parents when she was two years old. They arrived here on the HMS Conte Rosso ship, having arrived in New York, Ellis Island on October 21, 1922. She and her five siblings grew up in Ishpeming, where she went to St. John’s Church and the Catholic School. Christine married Arne Larson and they raised five children, all boys. She enjoyed cooking, baking and was an avid knitter.

Surviving are four sons: Robert (Phyllis) Larson of Laingsburg, MI, Raymond (Maxine) Larson of Bath, MI, Michael (Sandy) Larson of Holt, MI and James (Linda) Larson of Negaunee, six grandchildren: Chris (Jim) Consiglio, Greg (Marla) Larson, Mathew Larson, Jamie (Dan) Skewis and Dean (Gwen) Larson, nine great grandchildren, and two brothers: Rocco Manzoline of Ishpeming and Raymond Manzoline of Hibbing, MN.

She was preceded in death by her son Ronald in 2003, her husband Arne in 1987, and siblings Rosie, John, and Lydia.

At Christine’s request, there will be no visitation.

A private funeral service will be held at the Perala Funeral Home with Fr. Gregory Helkkala of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. Any expressions of sympathy should be directed to the Perala Funeral Home in Negaunee.
