Peter “Pete” Bourdage
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI. – Peter “Pete” Bourdage, 57, of Marquette Township, rose with the sun, his favorite time of the day, on Friday, May 17, 2013, and entered peacefully into rest, at his home in the loving care of his family. Born December 7, 1955 in Marquette, a son of Roland and Marylou (Hudson) Bourdage, Pete was raised in Marquette, and was a 1974 graduate of the Marquette Senior High School. Following graduation, Pete worked for the Mining Journal as a driver. He later went to work for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company as a miner, a career that spanned 38 years, retiring as a blaster with the blast crew. In his younger years, Pete enjoyed playing baseball, which carried into softball in his adult years. A true family man, Pete’s family was everything to him and he was never happier or more fulfilled than when he could spend time with the grandchildren, go to camp on Squaw Beach with the family, or tinker on his Wiley’s Jeep in the confines of his experimental laboratory and research center, known as his garage. Pete was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, anyone who knew him experienced his obsession. Pete was also known to be generous with his time and talent, making himself available to others no matter what. If there was a need and it could be met, Pete was there. For over 20 years, Pete served on the Marquette Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Tina; three children, Mia Bourdage of Minneapolis; Mathew (Chelsea Wallner) Bourdage of Marquette Township, and Luke Bourdage of Iron Mountain; three grandsons, Brenden, Jameson, and Jack; his mothers, Marylou Crothers and Joyce Sands; his brothers, Jim, John, Mark, Bill and Tom; his sisters, Roberta, Gail, Deb and Sue; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roland; and his step-father, Walter Crothers; sister, Judy; father-in-law, Bob Sands.
Friends may call at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Thursday May 23, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at 6:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Leon Jarvis presiding.
