Florence Virginia Bolwerk
GWINN, Mich. – Florence Virginia Bolwerk, 80, of Gwinn, died Tuesday evening, April 30, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born November 27, 1932 in Bunkie, Louisiana, a daughter of the late Emile Z. and Dolly (Zimmer) Moreau.
Florence was a Korean Conflict veteran and served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1957.
On February 13, 1957, she married John Bolwerk at Eglin AFB in Florida. The couple had been married for 56 years.
Florence and her family moved to Gwinn in 1975. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and St. Anthony Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, music and reaping the rewards of John’s work in the garden.
Florence was a woman of faith, her devotion to God and her church was important to her.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Bolwerk of Gwinn; 5 children, Douglas Bolwerk of Hot Springs, AR, Daniel Bolwerk of Hot Springs, AR, Adriana (Patrick) Sertich of Sheboygan, WI, Dolly (Patrick) Clisch of Ishpeming and Donna (Timmy) Boldt of Manitowoc, WI; grandchildren, Travis, Troy, Timmy and Katrina Bolwerk, Brittany, Sarah and Tiffany Bolwerk, Matthew Sertich, Nathan and Courtney Clisch, Dorothy and Joshua Boldt; three great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Schmitty, Pug & Boo. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Danielle Bolwerk; and siblings, Alton and Emile Morrow and LaVergne Moore.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Baraga Room at St. Anthony Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. John Boyle officiating. Interment will be held in the Gwinn Cemetery.
