New art show in Michigamme

MICHIGAMME – The Michigamme Moonshine Art Gallery will offer the show “New Art by: Margo McCafferty & Tom Rudd, Woodcuts, Linocuts, Paintings & Sculptures” April 28 through June 1.

McCafferty and Rudd have been producing art together for the last 22 years. Both are influenced by Japanese aesthetics, the natural surroundings, and each other’s work. Rudd is for the most part a sculptor, while McCafferty is primarily a painter. Together, the couple collaborates on color reduction woodblock prints.

An artists reception with refreshments is planned for 2 to 4 p.m. May 5 at the gallery, which is located at 136 E. Main, HC 1 Box 3477 in Michigamme. Gallery hours are 10 a.m o 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and Saturdays by chance. For information, call 906-323-6545.

Church to serve free meal

ISHPEMING – Hope Free Evangelical Lutheran Church will serve a free meatloaf dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The church is located across from Sunnyside Estates in west Ishpeming. All are welcome. If transportation is needed, call the church office at 485-5714.

PPNM luncheon planned

MARQUETTE – Kathy Davis of Marquette will be honored at Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan’s Seventh Annual Healthy Families Luncheon to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at the Masonic Building. Davis will receive the Martha Hatch award for her dedication to Planned Parenthood.
