Lee W. Holm

MARQUETTE, MI – Lee William Holm, 74, of Marquette, died early Thursday morning, April 25, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness.

Lee was born on December 23, 1938 in Marquette, a son of the late Oscar and Alice (Roberts) Holm and was a lifelong area resident. He was married to his wife, Gloria, for 40 years and was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.

Lee was employed by the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company Empire Mine from 1967 until his retirement in 1997. He worked there mostly as a shovel operator and greatly enjoyed working with the crew there.

In his free time, Lee enjoyed spending time at his camp in Limestone where many happy family memories were established over the years.

He also enjoyed stream fishing for brook trout, deer and bird hunting, and gardening. He was most proud of his prize tomatoes.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria (Delorensi) Holm of Marquette; one daughter, Lisa (Chris) Wetton of Negaunee; two grandchildren, Amber and Cody Wetton; a sister, Margaret Raish of New Mexico; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was a brother, Oscar Holm, Jr. and a sister, Elsie Vincent.

Friends may call at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Monday, April 29th from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Van Kley officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service in the funeral home. Burial will take place at West Branch Cemetery in Skandia.
