Michigan Tech cancels spring game due to weather
HOUGHTON – Michigan Tech canceled Saturday’s annual spring football intrasquad game due to weather. Drifting snow from Friday’s storm left Sherman Field unplayable.
“It’s unfortunate we can’t play today,” head coach Tom Kearly said Saturday. “The spring game’s always for the players, and they’ve worked really hard this spring to improve themselves.”
Kearly credited the MTU grounds crew for allowing the team to get in nine practices on the field previous to this despite all the leftover snow.
Michigan Tech opens its season at Tiffin on Saturday, Sept. 14. The home opener is the following Saturday vs. Walsh.
