Firefighting training held

K.I. Sawyer International Airport firefighters put out a fire during the airport’s annual controlled fire training exercise Tuesday afternoon. The exercise required by the Federal Aviation Administration was run by Wade Boyat and Jerry Huberty, aircraft rescue and firefighting specialists from Duluth, Minn. During the eight hours of training, firefighters responded to realistic scenarios such as engine, baggage and cockpit fires to test their response time and safety procedures.
