MARQUETTE, Mich. – Michael Pfaffle, age 68, of Marquette, entered eternal life Friday, April 5, 2013, while at his home in Florida.
Mike was born October 29, 1944, in Marquette, a son of Warren “Punky” and Bernice (Wickert) Pfaffle. A lifelong Marquette resident, Mike served for 21 years in the Army National Guard and was employed for 36 years with the Marquette Board of Light and Power, retiring in 1999. In 1985, he married Bette, and together the couple raised four boys, all of whom Mike was extremely proud. He was a caring dad who loved teaching them about the outdoors and enjoyed taking them on fishing and hunting excursions, and attending their sporting events. He was a baseball coach, liked to watch old Western movies, especially “Gunsmoke,” was a devoted Detroit Lions fan, and enjoyed traveling, especially to his home in Florida. And, who can ever forget his gift of creating and extending a good old-fashioned argument.
Mike is survived by his wife of 28 years, Bette; sons, Cory (Cindy) Pfaffle and Kevin (Melissa) Pfaffle both of Marquette; and John (Min) Wood of Tempe, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Kris Harris Pfaffle of Gwinn; grandchildren, Asheli, Cole, Sage, and Asher Pfaffle, Tonya and Becky Croschere, and Tyrone Dwight; his mother, Bernice Pfaffle of Negaunee; sisters, Kathy Hurkmans of Manistique, Laurie (James) O’Dovero and Theresa Carter both of Marquette; brother, Daniel Pfaffle of Marquette; brother-in-law, Russ (Joyce) Hurkmans of Ocala, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Warren “Punky” Pfaffle in 1985; and a son, Ronald G. Pfaffle in 2012.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be announced.
