New Pen Bank space a hit
NEGAUNEE – The new space for the Peninsula Bank in Negaunee has received positive response from customers.
“The response has been really good,” said Dane Nelson, the branch manager who’s also the loan officer. “Everyone seems to be very happy. The interior is set up as it was before so people are comfortable with it.
“The exterior door we added seems to be something people really like.”
Founded more than a century ago in Ishpeming, Peninsula Bank has had a branch in Negaunee since 1997.
Originally located in the now defunct IGA store, Pen Bank’s Negaunee office has been part of the Super One complex for a number of years. When Super One expanded, the bank’s office moved a bit further west inside the larger complex. The bank was closed for only one day to make the move, Nelson said.
“We closed on Feb. 18 and moved everything to the new office so we could reopen on Feb. 19,” he said. “It all went smoothly.”
The bank’s hours are now 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The drive-thru windows are open during those same hours.
An ATM in the Super One space is also featured for customers to use during hours the bank is closed.
“We’re excited about all of this,” Nelson said. “This is going to be a big year for Peninsula Bank.” In addition to the upgrade of the Negaunee office, Pen Bank’s Marquette office will be moving from Front Street to a newly constructed building on McClellan Avenue. Peninsula Bank’s headquarters will remain in Ishpeming, where they have been since 1887.
“We are all excited for the future of Peninsula Bank,” Nelson said.
