Wildcat golfers 5th in Ohio

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Northern Michigan University golf team finished fifth at its first tournament this spring on Friday at Beavercreek Golf Club in Ohio.

Wildcats junior Jared Reid finished fourth overall with a two-day total of 9-over-par 153 at the 32nd annual Cedarville Invitational. The Wildcats totaled 642 and trailed Point Park University with 619, Notre Dame College with 625, Walsh University with 633 and host Cedarville University with 641, while bettering Urbana University’s 658 score.

NMU sophomore Ayrton Mantha tied for 12th with 158 and freshman Patrick Sweeney was four strokes back in 27th place with 163. Junior Mike Murphy added 169 and junior Ben Johnson 179.

NMU’s contingent was rounded out by freshman Nick Markell with 175 and freshman Mitchell Francois 180.
