Zonta Club of Marquette recognizes area residents for their contributions
On Monday, the Zonta Club of Marquette recognized members of the community who strive to advance the economic, political, financial and health status of women. Each recipient received a yellow rose, Zonta’s symbol, as thanks for their efforts to make Marquette County a better place for women and children. The honorees included: Front row ,from left, Dr. Wendy Frye (Bell Hospital), Sister Ludmill Gramann (Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity), Shanna Trepani (Anytime Fitness of Harvey and 906 Ninjas), Sally May (first director of the Women’s Center) and Les Bek (Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes); and back row, from left, Sarah Harnett (Camp STAR), Phyllis Loonsfoot (The Women’s Center/Harbor House), Rosemary Fields (for Liz Mathie, Anytime Fitness of Harvey and 906 Ninjas), Julie Whitney (Honored Zontian), Sarah Peura (Superior Alliance for Independent Living) and Cindy Nyquist (Upper Peninsula Home Health, Hospice & Private Duty). Honorees not pictured are Rachel Harris (Northern michigan University Center for Student Enrichment/Superior Edge) and Katherine Sartori (NMU).
