Elect Her training at NMU
MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University is one of 39 institutions nationwide and in Jamaica that will host “Elect Her: Campus Women Win,” a free training program that encourages college women to run for student government. The training will be held from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the University Center Pioneer Rooms.
Marquette County Probate Judge Cheryl Hill will share her campaign experiences and why she chose to become a public official. Elect Her facilitator Nancy Bocskor will address the importance of young women running for office and lead a campaign simulation exercise. Other speakers will discuss the nuts and bolts of running for NMU student government, crafting and communicating campaign messages and reaching out to mobilize voters on campus. The event also is open to male students and includes lunch and a networking reception, both of which are free to participants.
