To the Journal editor:
Marquette area friends: Sherri and I have been overwhelmed with the well wishes and financial support from you.
Marquette has always been our favorite race city because of you all, how friendly you are and how you’ve opened your homes and hearts to us and our dogs.
Our recent tragedy was one that will take us some time to work through but your kindness and generosity is going a long way to help us.
We spent the day after we received your cards, reading them and thinking about all of you, your gifts and kind inspiring words.
The volunteers immediately after we were struck worked tirelessly to help us recover and care for all our dogs.
The veterinarians in particular were brilliant in their work, led by Gwinn’s Dr. Jeanie Wilcox. Please thank her too if any of you have a chance. She and her staff worked around the clock for three days to care for the injured dogs and as a result they will all likely race again.
Cowboy and Boo continue to receive care here but they are happy at home at our kennel near Grand Marais, Minn.
We may be absent for a while from the U.P. 200 but your love and kindness have helped the wounds to begin to heal and will ultimately allow our return to your beautiful city.

and of course Cowboy, Boo,
Winnie, Nita, Wolf, Storm, Esther, Ajax, Tulip, Moo, Tina and our beloved Pony whose spirit will
always run in the woods of the U.P.
