Linnea A. Borlace

NEGAUNEE, Mich. – Linnea Alfreda Borlace, 98, formerly of County Road, Negaunee died at 8:28 AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Emergency Room of Bell Memorial Hospital. She had resided at Eastwood Nursing Center for the past 8 years and at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Della, for 10 years prior to that.

Linnea was born May 15, 1914, in Negaunee to Richard and Annie (Johnson) Anderson, attended the Negaunee Schools, and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of the United Evangelical Covenant Church, Ishpeming, and the Ladies Fellowship Group. Linnea loved tending to her flower garden, was a great cook and baker and made wonderful pasties. Most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Surviving are two sons: Richard “Butch” Borlace and Richard “Tom” (Della) Borlace, both of Negaunee, 9 grandchildren: Diane (Jim) Asikainen, Scott (Jeri) Borlace, Raymond Howell, Elizabeth LaForest, Michael Howell, Dawn Renfors, William “Pete” Borlace, Shawn (Peggy) Borlace, Stanley Borlace, numerous great-grandchildren including: Katie, Mark, Trevor and Tucker Borlace, Jessie and Jason LaForest, numerous great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanley Borlace on November 28, 1994, a grandson Alan Howell, 8 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday at the United Evangelical Covenant Church, Ishpeming with Rev. Karen M. Hinz officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Pete, Shawn, Stanley, and Scott Borlace, Jim Asikainen, and nephews: Dave and Doug Borlace. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of services at noon on Saturday.

Memorials may be directed to the United Evangelical Covenant Church in Mrs. Borlace’s memory.
