Murphy, Holli make 8-ball breaks in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING – Melissa Murphy of Jack’s III and Laurie Holli of American Legion each had 8-ball breaks on Feb. 26 in the Ishpeming Women’s Pool League.

Jack’s I moved into a second-place tie with a 12-4 win over Rumorz, while Hickey’s I held onto first place with a 10-6 victory over Jack’s III.

In other matches, all 9-7 scores, Paradise beat Rainbow, VFW upended American Legion and Wonder Bar nipped Hickey’s II.


In week 23 results, American Legion bombarded VFW, 12-3; Crossroads Bar whipped Sturgis Saloon, 11-4; Cascade Inn III swamped Fat Boyz South, 11-4; and Jack’s Hideaway snuck past Sturgis Saloon II, 11-4.

Also, American Legion II doubled up Up North Lodge, 10-5; Cascade Inn beat Full Throttle Bar ‘n’ Grill, 9-6; Jack’s Hideaway II stopped Cascade Inn II, 9-6; and Happy Hour Bar II edged Full Throttle II, 8-7.

Bryan Kalbfleisch turned in a table run for a win.

Ishpeming Men’s

Pool League

In week 8, round 2 action, Paradise downed Rumorz II, 15-9; Rainbow dumped Rumorz III, 14-10; Riverside edged Jack’s III, 13-11; and Hickey’s II bounced Rumorz I, 16-8.

In addition, Jack’s I whipped Wayside, 16-8; Jack’s II clubbed Wonder Bar, 19-5; and Hickey’s I tripped Tilden Club, 13-11.

Steve Harris from Jack’s II, Joe Bauer from Rumorz II, Darryl Larson from Jack’s I and Nick Roberts from Tilden Club all posted table runs.

Pool League

In week 24 results, the HideAway Tribe smacked Full Throttle II, 13-2; Happy Hour II defeated Richmond township, 10-5; Up North topped Happy Hour, 9-6; and Sturgis beat Crossroads, 10-5.

In addition, VFW trimmed Full throttle, 8-7; and Up North II stopped the American Girls, 8-7.

Pool League

In play as of Feb. 27, Pat’s edged Dry Dock, 5-4; Fat Boyz I drubbed 3rd Base II, 8-1; the Dry Dock Devils stomped Wahlstrom’s, 6-3; and Wooden Nickel II shaded Longshot II, 5-4.

Also, Remie’s Roses beat Blue Lounge, 6-3; Fat Boyz II toppled 3rd Base I, 5-4; Longshot I turned away Wooden Nickel I, 6-3; and Remie’s drew a bye.
