Bird research program offered
MARQUETTE – The Laughing Whitefish Audubon Society will present a program called “Overview of Recent Keweenaw Bird Research,” at 7 p.m. March 13 in the Peter White Library Community Room.
Joe Youngman will give an overview of several research projects in the Copper Country. Some projects monitored migration patterns over the Keweenaw, including the three-year Keweenaw Raptor Survey on Brockway Mountain, and ongoing observations of spring and fall migration over Manitou Island.
Other researchers examined the nesting habits of black-backed woodpeckers, and the summer of 2012 marked the first documented nesting of a peregrine falcon in the Keweenaw.
This program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 226-6749.
