NEWBERRY – Manistique hoisted a district tournament championship trophy for the first time since 2006 with a 50-34 victory Friday night at Newberry in a Class C final.

The victory sends Manistique (8-14) to the regional tournament in Marquette to face Ishpeming on Tuesday.

Kyra Lauzon scored 17 points for Manistique, which led 26-17 at halftime and 39-21 after three quarters. The Emeralds committed 24 turnovers.
