Mississippi blues artist to perform

MARQUETTE – The Marquette Area Blues Society is presenting Mississippi blues artist Grady Champion at 7:30 p.m. March 8 at Kaufman Auditorium in Marquette.

Champion, a blues singer and harmonica virtuoso who has been nominated for three 2012 Blues Music Awards and a 2011 Blues Critic Award for Best Down Home Blues Song, is also the 2010 International Blues Challenge winner. He will be accompanied by one of the best young blues bands in America.

Champion and the band have played on the Legendary Blues Cruise, the Chicago Blues Festival three times and fests and clubs around the country.

No advance tickets will be sold. Admission will cost $12 for the public, $10 for Marquette Area Blues Society members, and $5 for students with a valid I.D. Doors will open at 7 p.m. For more information, log on to www.marquetteareabluessociety.com.
