Meth lab suspect waives prelim

MARQUETTE – An Ishpeming man who led police on a January manhunt has waived his preliminary hearing and now awaits arraignment in Marquette County Circuit Court on drug charges.

Todd Raymond Wentworth, 31, is charged with two counts of operating a methamphetamine lab. His preliminary had been scheduled for Friday morning in Marquette County District Court.

No date has been set for Wentworth’s circuit court arraignment.

Ishpeming City Police Department Chief Dan Willey said last month that a Nove-mber investigation into a meth lab in the city led to warrants being issued for Wentworth’s arrest. When the suspect heard police were searching for him, Wentworth allegedly called Willey.

“He called me and told me he was going to commit suicide by cop and hurt people who had hurt him,” Willey said following Wentworth’s apprehension.

Wentworth was on foot when police arrested him on Ishpeming’s North Street.

Wentworth is lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond. He has also been known by the name Todd Raymond Mills.
