Gwinn man gets 25-50 years for sexual assaults

MARQUETTE – A Gwinn man was sentenced to prison Friday on numerous counts of sexual assault.

Jason Andrew Saumier, 42, was sentenced in Marquette County Circuit Court to between 25 and 50 years in prison in connection with eight counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was given credit for 283 days served and was ordered to pay fines and costs.

Saumier was convicted by a jury on Nov. 29 of sexually assaulting a teenage female. The incidents began in 2005, according to court documents.

At the same November trial, the jury also acquitted Saumier of a fourth-degree CSC charge involving a different alleged victim.
