U.P. 200 ham radio workshop set

MARQUETTE – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is sponsoring a course on the behind-the-scenes operations of ham radio communication for the U.P. 200 sled dog race. The class sessions will take place during the race Feb. 16, as radio operators monitor the mushers by keeping in constant contact with the checkpoints along the route.

Sessions will be available from 10 to 10:45 a.m. and 11 to 11:45 a.m., with a possible third session at noon. All will be held at the U.P. 200 headquarters in the Holiday Inn, Marquette, where the broadcasting takes place.
