Wayne E. Hartman Sr.

REPUBLIC, Mich. – Wayne E. Hartman Sr., age 76, of 7714 Oak Dr., Republic, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette where he been a resident for the past 2 1/2 years.

Wayne was born February 17, 1936 in Taylortown, PA to Joseph A. and Flossie (Marshall) Hartman. He graduated from Freedom High School in Pennsylvania. Wayne served in the United States Navy. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1955 and after 23 years of service to his country was honorably discharged in 1977, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Wayne later worked as a manager for the National Pen Corporation in California.

Wayne was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic. He enjoyed fixing and repairing cars, woodworking and fishing.

Wayne is survived by his wife Joyce Elaine Hartman, whom he married on August 20, 1956, 4 children: Wayne (Gini) Hartman Jr. of Cathedral City, CA, Maria (Jesse) Babbitt of Las Vegas, NV, Doreen (Dennis) Reasinger of Damascus, MD, and David Hartman of Republic, a brother Joseph Hartman of Beaver, PA, 7 grandchildren: Jamie (Mark) Carlson, Daisy Byzek, Dawn (Michael) Leidy, Jennifer Ransom, Loretta Hartman, Virginia Hartman and David Hartman, 7 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roy Hartman.

Wayne’s family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic where a memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Kevin Kaiser to officiate.

Inurnment will take place in the Republic Township Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 380.
