Mary Elizabeth Anderson

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Mary Elizabeth Anderson, 97, of Marquette, passed away Sunday morning, January 27, 2013 at the Norlite Nursing Center.

Mrs. Anderson was born on September 1, 1915 in Ironwood, Michigan to the late Michael S. and Ellen (Drazanovich) Milakovich. She was a 1933 graduate of Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood.

On June 18, 1949, Mary was married to Roy S. Anderson in Ironwood and together they enjoyed nearly 59 years of marriage together.

Mary worked alongside her husband and son as the bookkeeper of Anderson Communications for 60 years. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she was active in its altar society, serving numerous funeral lunches over the years and assisting at parish bazaars.

Mary was active in the Hiawatha Amateur Radio Club and was proud to be licensed as KB8CKR. She was also active with Boy Scout Troop 302, was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, was a National Luge official and was a member of the World Service Guild through the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son, Fred (Vicki) Anderson of Marquette; a grandson, Daniel Beltz of Marquette; two sisters, Betty Gifford of Milwaukee, WI and Ellen (Joe) Zaher of Dallas, TX; one brother, Peter (Mi-chelle) Milakovich of Ishpeming; also several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Roy S. Anderson on May 11, 2008; brothers, John, Frank and Nick Milakovich as well as two sisters, Kay Schwager and Jean Godsey.

Friends may call at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. where a parish prayer service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12 noon in St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating and assisted by Deacon Dennis Maki. Spring burial will take place in the Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dan Beltz, Dan Sackett, Jim Milakovich and Michael Milakovich.
