Newberry boys get bombarded

NEWBERRY – Brimley opened with a barrage of 3-pointers and raced to an 84-46 victory over Newberry in a high school boys basketball game played Tuesday.

The Bays (11-2) hit a half-dozen triples in the first quarter to build a 30-8 lead after eight minutes. Three were made by junior Tommy Aikens, who finished with 15 points.

Newberry (1-11) got 17 points from senior Dustin Brown, which included five 3s, and nine points from freshman Josh Hood.

Brimley senior Daniel Lathrop also scored 17 points to share scoring honors. The Bays extended their lead to 43-23 at halftime and 67-35 entering the final quarter.
