Edward ‘Ob’ J. Shaver
MENOMINEE, Mich. – Edward “Ob” J. Shaver, 91, of Menominee passed away on Sunday January 20, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Tomah, where he was a resident for many years.
He was born on October 23, 1921, to the late Ross and Vinnie (Ihde) Shaver in Menominee. He graduated from Menominee High School and went on to serve his country for four years with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. On March 6, 1948, Edward married Ann Kusnierz at Sacred Heart Church. He had worked for many years at Shaver Motor Co. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church and enjoyed deer hunting.
Edward is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann; a son, James (Sally) Shaver of Marquette; a daughter, Sharon (Everson) (Jim) Salfai of Menominee; a brother, Wes (Alice) Shaver of Menominee; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call at Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home in Menominee on Thursday January 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 6 p.m. with Chaplain Darrel Diers officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established.
