Cadet Squirts post four wins without a loss
MARQUETTE – The Marquette Police Cadets Squirt youth hockey team won their four most recent games played in the Central Upper Peninsula League.
At home against the Newberry Lightning, the Cadets recorded 20-3 and 12-5 wins with Zane Phillips working the nets for the winners.
In Game 1, Jack Burzynski scored six goals while teammate Chase Bourdeau had five, Julian Greason four, Chase Seger three, and Colin Bradley and Talon Bohn one each.
In Game 2, Greason had four tallies, Tommy Blemberg three, Ethan Richards two and Burzynski, Bourdeau and Austin Ridl one apiece.
Marquette later traveled to Manistique and posted 11-5 and 4-2 victories.
In Game 1, Ridl had three goals and Seger, Greason and Ben Gostomski two each, while in the nightcap, Blemberg had two scores adn Burzynski and Bradley one apiece.
mBank girls win three
on the road
CHEBOYGAN – The mBank girl’s hockey team began a three-win weekend on Jan. 12 by topping Cheybogan, 14-2.
Mackenzie Masters set the tone for the weekend, registering a hat trick and an assist against Cheybogan.
Following the Cheybogan game, the mBank girls headed west to play in the Traverse City Invitational Showcase. The mBank girls won both games, 3-0 and 5-1.
Weekend scoring was lead by McKenzie Masters with five goals and three assists followed by Lauryn Folker with three goals and three assists. Katie Pryor and Freya Holferty both had three goals and one assist.
Hannah Riesland served in net, fending off all but three shots and registering one shutout.
