Robert ‘Robbie’ J. Delliss
MICHIGAMME, Mich. – Robert “Robbie” J. Delliss, age 60 of 103 Mesnard St. Michigamme passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 14, 2013 at his home.
Robert was born in Negaunee on August 27, 1952 to Louis and Mildred (Verville) Delliss. He graduated from Champion High School, class of 1970. Robbie was a heavy equipment operator for Cleveland Cliffs Mining Company working at the Republic Mine, Empire Mine and retiring from the Tilden Mine after 25 years.
Robbie enjoyed the outdoors: cutting firewood, steelhead fishing and deer hunting. He shot a 16 point trophy buck in 1989, which was a state record that year. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Champion.
Robbie is survived by his wife Michele (Jarvi) Delliss, whom he married On April 27, 1974, 3 sons; Shawn Delliss of Michigamme, Kevin (Susan) Delliss of Eau Claire, WI, and Jason Delliss of Marquette, a brother Michael (Lynn) Delliss of Spurr Township, 4 grandchildren: Alyssa, Brenden, Dylan and Piper, a niece Melissa (Steve) Cevigney along with other nieces and nephews. Robbie was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Mildred.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion with Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating. Interment will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery in Michigamme in the Spring.
Robbie’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion.
