Brady ‘Leon’ Arnett

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Brady “Leon” Arnett, age 78, of 2100 Longyear Avenue, Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday, January 12, 2013, at his home in the loving, comforting care of his family.

Leon was born June 30, 1935 in Roan Mountain, TN, a son of Thomas and Dailie (Stevens) Arnett. Leon lived in Roan Mountain, TN until the age of 17 when he moved to Sault Ste. Marie for an employment opportunity with Our Own Bakery. Two years later he moved to Marquette where he started his career as a baker with Bunny Bread Bakery where he worked for 38 years. In his spare time, Leon was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and was also known for his cooking ability.

Leon is survived by his loving wife, Jean R. Arnett; his two daughters, Kathy (Charlie) Henderson of Atlanta, GA and Kaye (Rick) Floyd of Atlanta, GA; his son, Keith (Laura) Arnett of Saginaw, MI; four step-daughters, Sandra (Paul) Peaden of North Carolina, Bonnie (Brian) Zorza of Skandia, Pam Reider of Marquette and Mary Ann Hemstock of Marquette; step-son, Dale (Stella) Ecklid of Gladstone; two brothers, Marcus (Iva) Arnett of Marquette and John (Karen) Arnett of Lenoir, North Carolina; three sisters, Zedia (Robert) Ellis of Elizabethton, TN, Martha Cress of Elizabethton, TN and Helen Riddles of Elizabethton, TN; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Leon’s life will be held on Saturday, January 19, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Skandia Township Hall, 224 Kreiger Drive, Skandia.
