Dale C. Kamp

GWINN, MI. – Dale C. Kamp, 74, of Gwinn, passed away Friday afternoon, January 4, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born February 11, 1938, in Luana, Iowa, a son of the late Arthur W. and Helena (Blume) Kamp. On November 9, 1957 he married the former Theresa Oates at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marquette.

Dale enlisted in the US Air Force and served as a jet mechanic for more than 21 years before retiring as a Master Sergeant and Vietnam Veteran in 1976.

Following his military retirement, Dale worked for several years as a bus driver and custodian for the Gwinn Schools.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the DAV. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing & boating, puzzles, barbeque’s and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Dale will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and “parent” to his beloved dogs, Buster, Muffy, Murphy and Morgan.

Dale is survived by his wife of 55 years, Theresa Kamp of Gwinn; children, Patti (Pat) Kamp Pellow of Gwinn, Dianne (Karl) Kababik of Lumber Bridge, NC, Brian (Melody Miller) Kamp of Marquette, Lisa (Mike) Stansky of Gwinn, Kimberly (Paul Malette) Bernier of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Doreen (Lynn) Weaver of Gwinn and Mary (Peter) Thielen of Marinette, WI; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Oates of Marquette; brother-in-law, Michael (Susan) Oates of Niles, MI; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alan Alt; and granddaughter, Charity.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Baraga Room at St. Anthony Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon in the church with Rev. Benedetto Paris officiating. A spring interment will take place in the Gwinn Cemetery.

Brennan & Derrick Johnson, David Pellow, Bill, Matthew and Alex Bernier and Lowell Miller will serve as pallbearers. Jason, Tyler, Tamra and Riley Stansky will serve as honorary pallbearers.
